POKOTABI / PLACES WORTH A DETOUR
紫竹庵大徳寺本店
A Japanese confectionery shop serving freshly grilled mitarashi dango, kuromitsu hon-warabi mochi and cheesecake made with Daitokuji natto. Choose to eat in or take your sweets away.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
The mitarashi dango, grilled to order, is a good place to start at Shichikuan. One diner described the dumplings as grilled until crisp on the outside and generously coated with sauce. The sauce was not overly sweet, they said, while the dango itself was soft and chewy. You can order a single skewer, making it an easy snack between stops or something to enjoy in the shop alongside warabi mochi.
Another of the shop’s specialities is its use of Daitokuji natto in sweets. A diner who tried the Daitokuji natto cheesecake described its flavour as a rich blend of cheese and cream, with the natto adding an unexpected accent. It is a distinctive choice for anyone looking for something a little different among the sweet offerings.
The kuromitsu hon-warabi mochi has also been praised for its gentle sweetness and fluffy texture. One diner enjoyed it as part of a set with tea. Seating for eating in is limited, and takeaway is also available.
